For some of you who are Pinterest addicts like me, this may seem like a no-brainer, but you would be surprised at how many people I have talked to about this strategy and it never occurred to them to use Pinterest. So for those of you who are thinking "why use Pinterest to create a paleo diet meal plan?", here is why:
The first thing you need to do is decide how to organize your boards. Do you like to plan your meals around the types of ingredients in them? By meal type? Or do you prefer to choose them by the cooking method? Here are some examples of how I organize my boards by meal types:
- Paleo Breakfast Recipes
- Paleo Snacks and Appetizers
- Paleo Dessert Recipes
- Paleo Beef Recipes
- Paleo Pork Recipes
- Paleo Poultry Recipes
- Paleo Seafood Recipes
- Paleo Soup and Stew Recipes
- Paleo Side Dish Recipes
- Paleo Sauce and Dressing recipes
- Paleo Drink Recipes
I like organizing this way because I can go through and easily find ideas based on meal categories. If I have a chuck roast I bought on sale, I just click on Paleo Beef Recipes and look for a recipes that uses roast. If I know I need to bring a dessert to an event, I click on Paleo Dessert Recipes and I see all of the recipes that I liked and saved previously. You can also put notes in the recipe descriptions about things that are important to you about the recipe such as main ingredients, cooking time, etc. Basically anything that will help you when you are hunting for recipes to put in your meal plan. Some other ways you can organize your boards are:
- Paleo Slow Cooker Recipes
- Paleo 30 Minutes or Less Recipes
- Paleo 10 Ingredients or Less Recipes
- Paleo Budget Recipes
If you have an event such as a holiday or birthday coming up, you can create boards to pin recipes and ideas for those:
If you have kids that are picky eaters, Pinterest has loads of great ideas for kids. You can make a board just for them:
And don't forget your fur kids:
Following a group blogger board is a great way to get a lot of great recipe ideas to show up in your feed. Bloggers will post their latest recipes to the board, and then all you have to do is click on one that looks appetizing to you and pin it to whichever one of your boards you like.
Once you have your boards set up and you have some recipes pinned, meal planning becomes much easier. Just click on one of your boards and scan through the images to see which ones you might like to make that week. You can click through to see any of the recipes, and then fill in your weekly meal planner with the name of the recipe and check off the ingredients you will need on a paleo grocery checklist.
