Don't waste your money at the spa on an expensive facial when you can do them yourself right at home! My friend Erica is an esthetician, and even though her salon charges top dollar for facials, she was kind enough to share with us some at-home tips and simple ingredients that work just as well as the high-end products she uses.
Facials are great for your skin and doing them at home ensures you use natural and chemical-free products. Below are some different types of at-home facials you can use to pamper yourself!

DIY - AT HOME FACIALS
Types of Facials & What You Will Need:
Herbal Steam
Starting off with a steam is a great way to start off a facial and help relax your body. The steam helps hydrates your skin and boosts circulation, and brings. It also promotes skin clarity and loosens debris from pores. To perform an herbal steam, wash your face and heat a few cups of water until boiling and place your favorite herbs into the water. Mint, basil, rosemary and lavender are all good options. Pour the water into a bowl and place on a table with a chair next to it. Cover your head with a towel and lean over bowl for five to ten minutes. Breathe deeply and relax. You can also use an inexpensive at-home steamer which works just as well. After steaming, splash your face and neck with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean towel.
Moisturizing Avocado Facial
This facial is easy to do and you probably have the ingredients already handy in your kitchen. It helps to moisturize dry skin and rid skin of impurities. You will need almond butter, 1/2 of an avocado and some raw honey. Start off by washing your face. Put one teaspoon of almond butter in your palm and rub your hands together to create a paste. Apply to skin by gently massaging with your fingertips over your entire face and neck. Use a washcloth to remove the almond mixture from your face and rinse with warm water. Next take half of an avocado and mix it together with 1/2 Tbsp. raw honey to make a mask. Apply to your face and relax for 15-20 minutes. Remove the mask with a warm, wet washcloth and rinse with warm water. Pat dry with a clean towel.
Soothing Banana Honey Facial
Bananas and raw honey are both great for your skin and most people have these available in their kitchen. Wash your face and mash together a ripe banana and 2 tsp. of raw honey until they form a smooth paste. Gently massage onto your face and neck. Let it set for 10 to 20 minutes, then rinse it off with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel.
Exfoliating Lemon Facial
Create a facial that both exfoliates and moisturizes by mixing the juice from 1 fresh lemon together with 1/4 cup olive oil. Wash your face and then gently massage the lemon and olive oil mixture onto your face and neck. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes, then rinse it off with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel.
The Any-Skin-Type Egg Facial
Egg facials can be used for any skin type - you just need to determine which part of the egg is right for you to use. If you have dry skin, use just the beaten yolk of the egg to moisturize. If you have oily skin use just the beaten egg white. For normal skin use the entire egg. Apply the beaten egg to your face, wait 20-30 minutes, then rinse it off with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel.
Tightening Vinegar Toner
Apple Cider Vinegar has been used for hundred of years as a toner, and it’s still just as effective today. Eric recommends using this brand. After you wash your face or rinse off your facial, mix together 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with 2 cups or warm water. Splash on your face as a finishing rinse to cleanse and tighten your skin.
Aztec Secret Mask
My own personal favorite mask it the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mixed with my favorite brand of Apple Cider Vinegar. I like to do this at night before going to bed. I start with an herbal steam, then mix the clay and the vinegar together in a non-reactive bowl, apply to my face for about 10-15 minutes, and then rinse off with a washcloth and warm water. The mask will tingle and will get quite hard, and your skin may be slightly red for a few minutes afterwards, but you will wake up in the morning with clear, soft skin that feels amazing!
