I have to admit I am a little biased because I have had a culinary crush on Michelle Tam since I started out on a Paleo lifestyle. I love her wit, her cartoons, her food, her writing (I could go on and on), and she has always been one of my favorite paleo bloggers. I even had a chance to meet her at her book signing when she toured San Diego. I was terrified that she would be stuck up or creepy or just odd (like some bloggers tend to be), but she was just as awesome as I had imagined! It was such a pleasure to get to talk to her and to listen to her answer questions from the crowd. I tried to play it cool and not geek out and act like a crazed fan when I met her (hopefully she didn't notice the goofy grin on my face).
OK, back to the book!
I have made several recipes from this book and every one of them is fantastic. These recipes will appeal to a wide range of palates, budgets and lifestyles. Whether you want something quick and easy, or you like to spend your time in the kitchen, you will find recipes that are right for you. One of the first recipes I made were "Lazy Devils", which were a fun twist on the traditional deviled egg, and were quickly inhaled by me and my family. The Slow-Cooker Kahlua Pig is sooo good, and it's perfect for days you when you just need to throw something in the slow cooker and come home to a delicious meal after work. The Slow-Cooker Korean Short Ribs are another great recipe for someone short on time who still likes to eat tasty food.
As someone who cooks A LOT, one of my favorite things about the design of this book is that it comes with a book mark ribbon.... so you can mark your recipe you are working on! I can't tell you how many times a book slams shut or my kids knock it over while I am int he middle of cooking and I have to hunt for the recipe again. A bookmark ribbon in a cookbook = genius.
The verdict: You don't need to be paleo or on any special diet to enjoy Nom Nom Paleo: Food For Humans, you just need to be a human that likes to eat.
